Collaborating with two talented designers and reporting directly to reMarkable's VP of Visual Design, CDO, and CMO, I helped conceptualize and create a cohesive image style.
This would be used not only for reMarkable’s largest product launch to date, which I worked on video assets for, but also as a foundation for all company wide content creation going forward.

Background
As competitors flooded the market and more in-house teams took on content creation, it became clear that reMarkable needed to evolve visually. Our existing image style, while effective in its time, had become too restrictive, leading to a lack of differentiation and depth.
Our task was to create an image style that would stand out in a crowded market, elevate the new visual identity being developed in parallel, and feel as deeply intertwined with our brand as our products themselves.
Process
Given the potential long-term use of the project, we spent considerable time aligning the image style with other elements of the brand. Our goal was to create visuals as integral to reMarkable’s identity as its products.
Commercially, it had to drive results. Aesthetically, it had to elevate the brand. Practically, it had to be adaptable for production and easy to implement across teams.
Once we landed on an exciting concept, we set up a test shoot to validate our ideas. This hands-on approach was invaluable, revealing what worked and what didn’t in real-world scenarios.
The final concept is presented below in a screen recording from Figma. Further down, you’ll find the extensive guidelines in Frontify. Feel free to scrub through both—each is about a minute long!
The Final Concept
The result was The Analog Treatment—an image style inspired by reMarkable Paper Pro and its connection to paper and analog workflows.
This style emphasizes tactility by applying a matte-like finish and subtle textures to imagery, mirroring the look and feel of the product’s display. It draws a direct line between the brand, the product, and the visuals, creating a cohesive and highly ownable aesthetic.
The Analog Treatment not only supports the brand’s identity but also gives their imagery a distinctive edge in a competitive market.
Below are the full set of guidelines, complete with rules, dos and don'ts, and examples.
In Action
The Analog Treatment has become a cornerstone of reMarkable’s visual identity, used across all productions, including the grand launch of reMarkable Paper Pro.
I worked on the video assets for the launch, but you can find some images below.
Results
Together with the image style concept, we also delivered extensive guidelines so that any team, in-house or external, could create content.
The style's emphasis on tactility and connection to the product has helped reMarkable maintain visual cohesion while standing out in an increasingly crowded space.
This project was not just about creating an image style—it was about redefining how reMarkable visually communicates its story and values.
