Redefining a Company's Storytelling for Its Biggest Product Launch Yet

I led the design efforts client side for the video assets used in reMarkable’s most significant product launch in four years, introducing reMarkable Paper Pro. This high-stakes campaign aimed to position the brand as a category leader while delivering bold, innovative storytelling, and simultaneously debuting a new visual identity.

Background

For years, reMarkable had enjoyed relative dominance in its niche, but the landscape was shifting. Major players like Amazon had entered the space with rival products, making it critical to reinforce the brand’s authority. reMarkable Paper Pro wasn’t just a new product—it represented a leap forward for the entire category.

Simultaneously, we were rolling out a new visual identity, complete with an updated image style that I also worked on. This launch required entirely new visual assets, including four films and additional supporting video content, created in collaboration with the brilliant studio ManvsMachine.

As Art Director and Lead Designer on reMarkable's end, I oversaw this effort, from concept development to execution and post-production, while also creating content for product screens, and finally ads.

The Films

The result was four films, filmed during a week in London, each with a distinct focus:

  1. The Paper Tablet – Establishing a confident, mature, and warm tone, while reiterating that the company as category leader.

  2. Introducing reMarkable Paper Pro – Highlighting the product’s innovations - colour, a larger screen, and many more.

  3. One Digital System – Showcasing the products seamless integration across its ecosystem.

  4. reMarkable For Business – Demonstrating the product’s value in professional contexts.

These films represented a major step forward for reMarkable’s storytelling, combining human warmth with striking, tactile visuals.

Screen Content

One of my key responsibilities was briefing on and designing content for the product screens—an essential element for demonstrating the product’s features in a clear, aspirational way.

I ensured the content was visually consistent, told a compelling story that highlighted important new features, the main one being the addition of colour on the new device, aligned with the specific characters, and the overall campaign aesthetic.

ManvsMachine created the bulk of them, but here is an excerpt of the ones I made.

Ads

In the final weeks, I worked with my team to create launch ads using assets we’d spent months perfecting. My guiding principle here was to let the imagery speak for itself, incorporating elements from the films, allowing the new identity and storytelling to shine. Here is an excerpt.

Results

The campaign was a resounding success. It contributed to the best month in reMarkable’s history, with the films amassing over 700,000 views on YouTube and gaining widespread attention in publications like Wallpaper.

The work set a new benchmark for reMarkable, redefining how to tell their story visually and strategically.
